The katana

The katana is a rare weapon and it is said that contains a soul in the blade.

In the era of great voyages, a samurai's sword was unfortunately caught by the waves in the storm and disappeared.  Loosing your sword is a betrayal to the Sabre-Bushido's loyalty-and the Sabre will no longer be loyal to the master.

Its soul turned into a bloodthirsty siren in the deep sea, losing her original sense of justice, courage, benevolence, honesty, courtesy and reputation of Bushido, now left only for plunder and killing.

She slashed all the people who attempt to picked her up, divers, sailors, explorers..., and the evil siren not only took away their lives but also the jewels and to wear them on as a trophy.

She wiggled her tail, with the posture of a ghost, like the samurai back then, looked down upon the whole world, and then disappeared into the sea…

Would you dare to pick up this beautiful katana from the bottom of the sea?

When shoot

When shooting this image, we wanted to portray the origins of mermaids in its purest form.
They are mystical creatures born from the ocean.

We found a beautiful hole amongst the coral reef and got Lu to be in it. It almost seems like a little nest, or in our case, it represents the womb of Mother Nature, encapsulating and incubating the daughter of the ocean, the mermaid.

The two lights represents the mystical light Mother Nature ignites during the moment of birth. From a technical standpoint, it enhances the depth of the photo- Lu was really quite deep inside that hole and we wanted to separate her from the background.

Shooting a mermaid photo is easy, but shooting a unique one isn’t especially when you don’t have special props. We took on the challenge of keeping things simple nonetheless, presenting the mermaid born in the coral nest of the ocean. Super minimalistic, but definitely an incredibly difficult photo to achieve given the strong currents, and also the time limit of only 1 hour.

蘭嶼有很多很棒的景，我們挑選了珊瑚礁洞的地形，讓人魚躺在其中：就好像我們見證了大海孵育人魚的瞬間。
溝通上，我們搭配兩個離閃除了營造”誕生當下的奇幻光芒”，也能增加人魚的魚身在洞內的立體感。

我們想呈現「誕生於海洋珊瑚窩內的人魚」，以一個極簡的畫面，但仔細看仍能發現對攝影師與水模都充滿技巧與挑戰性。

I’m a charming mermaid
Living under the dark blue ocean.
Glamorous yet tender outlook is my disguise.
Alluring man with my affecting voice.
When you step into my sweet yet fatal swirl.
Like moths to the fire.
Swallowed by orgasm.
Smashed into pieces in ecstasy.
Melt into bubbles.

There have been mermaid legends all over the world since ancient times.
But is it really just a legend?
Human beings have repeatedly discovered the traces of evidence of the mermaid. 
We keep discovering all kinds of signs to prove their existence, but till this day, the existence of mermaids still remain a mystery.

We have thousands of ideas about mermaids, but the only thing we can be sure of is,
If mermaids really exist, the sea would be their home.
But we humans continue to destroy their homes,
So we refer to this image "warrior", a representation that often appears in movies,
A warrior in the sea who strives to defend his homeland.

Everyone has different imagination to mermaids, and curious about the mermaid life. As a creator between land and ocean Living in the beautiful underwater life is an amazing thing!

This summer, the temperature is higher than usual, feels like having a hot pot. However, a lot of tourists still dress up and have fun at the beach. The thing that I do mostly this summer is to color the bleaching coral. No matter the Kenting Houbihu, Liuqiu Sanfu fishing port, Lanyu Waterfront Park, all show a lot of bleaching corals. Although it is quite funny to color it, it would be great if the bleaching slows down. Orelse I will be super busy every summer!
